Urban Living Studio
Philosophy
MESA’s Urban Living Studio tackles high density projects for developers of single and multi-family, residential, hotel, and mixed-use projects in major Texas cities. Its comprehensive body of work is an amalgamation of all that we have learned as designers, landscape architects, and planners. Although some of these projects may appear to be only inner-city infill studies, their densities and economic impacts will affect the surrounding community. Dense housing conditions cause an increased awareness of human and property boundaries, changes in school attendance zones, and a greater need for local services and grocery stores. In a competitive market, MESA’s Urban Living Studio speaks the same language as the developer and the architect: appeal, quality, and economic return on the investment.
Approach
The Urban Living Studio is attuned to working within strict site constraints and building confines. Regardless of project size, each design exceeds the already high quality expectations of the client while remaining budget conscious. The intimate level of detailing on many projects is akin to industrial design and may include custom light fixtures and systems, environmental graphics, shade structures, and custom pools and fountains. Because most of the projects are in urban environments, the selected natural materials, whether plants, stone, or water, often reflect the regional ecosystem of the project’s setting. MESA’s Urban Living Studio is a collaborative group that understands urban trends and the growing demands of our cities.
