Retail Studio
Philosophy
Whether designing a transit-oriented development, mixed-use center, or urban shopping street, MESA’s Retail Studio knows how to invest their clients’ dollars. They also know that people desire places in their communities with positive energy, and family-friendly, all-day access to a stress-reduced environment. The actions of daily life are a form of participatory theater and require a stage set with functional props like plants, water, lights, signs, benches, sidewalks, courtyards, streets, and parking lots. MESA’s Retail Studio builds each into an artful and vibrant scene that addresses the cultural aspects of the surrounding neighborhoods and larger community.
Approach
MESA’s Retail Studio has bounce, focus, and court sense. They study each project to gain a thorough understanding of the project’s community and culture, are adept at organizing building and ancillary components, and understand profit margins and the economy of these developments. To stay ahead of design trends, the Retail Studio is organized as a team of young designers, project managers, and experienced principals who collaborate on each project through office charettes and heavy team interaction. This combination of fresh ideas and realistic methods have resulted in award winning projects throughout the U.S. and internationally.
